TemproSTAT TP526 Freeze Protection Thermostat — Automatic Farm Heater & De-Icer Control
Keep farm heaters and de-icers from running continuously when they are not needed. The TemproSTAT TP526 Freeze Protection Thermostat automatically switches connected heating devices on when temperatures drop to approximately 39°F and turns them off as temperatures rise, helping provide automatic low-temperature protection while reducing unnecessary heater runtime.
Designed for use with a standard 120V electrical outlet, the compact thermostat has two receptacles for controlling devices with a combined load of up to 15 amps or 1,800 watts. It can also control a light, allowing the light to illuminate when the receptacles are energized as a visual warning that temperatures have reached the freeze-protection range.
Key Features
-
Automatic Temperature Control: Turns connected heating devices on at approximately 39°F and off as temperatures rise, reducing the need to manually monitor and switch equipment.
-
Two Receptacles: Provides two outlets for controlling compatible devices, making it practical for managing more than one piece of equipment from a single thermostat.
-
15-Amp, 1,800-Watt Rating: Supports a combined load of up to 15 amps or 1,800 watts at 120V AC across both receptacles.
-
Freeze Protection: Automatically activates connected heating equipment when temperatures approach freezing, helping address low-temperature conditions that can contribute to frozen pipes and other freeze-related problems.
-
Pilot Light: Illuminates when the receptacles are energized, providing a quick visual indication that the thermostat has switched connected equipment on.
-
Compact Design: Measures 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 1", making it a small addition to a sheltered electrical setup.
-
Grounded Plug: Uses one male grounded plug for connection to a standard 120V electrical outlet.
Designed for Automatic Freeze Protection
The TemproSTAT TP526 is useful when poultry and farm equipment needs heat only during colder conditions. Instead of leaving a heater or de-icer operating continuously, the thermostat responds to temperature and switches connected equipment on and off automatically. This makes it useful for applications such as farm heaters, de-icers, and heating devices used to help protect against freezing temperatures.
The second receptacle can also be used with a light. When the thermostat energizes the receptacles, the pilot light illuminates, giving you a convenient visual warning that the temperature has reached the thermostat's activation range.

Know Before You Buy
- The thermostat should be connected to a weather-protected outlet, such as one located inside a barn, shed, or other sheltered area.
- The combined load of devices connected to both receptacles must not exceed the 15-amp, 1,800-watt rating at 120V AC.
- The manufacturer information describes the TP526 as capable of controlling one heating device and a light. It does not provide specific compatibility information for individual heater or de-icer models.
