Residential Delivery and Liftgate

Purpose This policy outlines the terms and conditions for residential delivery services and the use of liftgate equipment to ensure clarity and consistency in our operations and customer interactions.

Please Note: The residential freight and liftgate information below applies to qualifying palletized products and equipment. Fully assembled chicken coops use specialized shed-hauling delivery and professional yard-placement equipment instead. See our Specialized Coop Delivery & Yard Placement Policy below.

  1. Residential Delivery

Residential delivery refers to the shipment of goods directly to a residential address. This service is distinct from commercial deliveries and has unique requirements.

1.1 Definition A residential address is defined as a location used primarily as a dwelling. This includes houses, apartment complexes, condos, or other similar living spaces. Locations such as farms, estates, and home businesses also qualify as residential for delivery purposes.

1.2 Service Availability Residential delivery is available for most products unless otherwise specified due to size, weight, or local restrictions. Certain oversized or heavy items may require special arrangements.

1.3 Residential Fees Included Residential fees are built in to your shipping quote and will not be displayed as an additional fee.

1.4 Delivery Timeframes Deliveries are typically made during standard business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM). Weekend delivery options may be available in some areas for an additional fee.

     2. Liftgate Service

Liftgate service involves the use of hydraulic lift equipment to safely lower heavy or oversized items from the delivery vehicle to ground level.

2.1 Applicability Liftgate service is required for shipments exceeding 150 lbs or when the recipient does not have the equipment or personnel to unload items safely.

2.2 Requesting Liftgate Service Customers must request liftgate service at the time of order placement. If not prearranged, the delivery may be rescheduled, and additional fees may apply.

2.3 Additional Charges A fee will be applied for liftgate service. This fee will be disclosed at the time of purchase.

2.4 Safety Guidelines Drivers are trained to operate liftgate equipment safely. Recipients must ensure a clear and accessible delivery area to facilitate unloading.

  1. General Conditions

3.1 Access Requirements Customers must ensure that the delivery address is accessible for large freight vehicles. Narrow driveways, steep inclines, or other impediments may require alternative arrangements.

3.2 Recipient Responsibilities

  • Be available to receive and inspect the shipment at the time of delivery.
  • Report any damages or discrepancies to the driver immediately and note them on the delivery receipt.
  • Ensure pets, children, and obstructions are kept away from the delivery area.

3.3 Failed Deliveries If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful due to inaccessibility, absence of the recipient, or other reasons beyond the carrier’s control, a re-delivery fee may apply.

3.4 Exclusions This policy does not cover deliveries to P.O. boxes or locations where liftgate services cannot be safely performed.

Specialized Coop Delivery & Yard Placement Policy

1. Overview

Gone Broody's fully assembled chicken coops are transported using specialized shed-hauling trucks and trailers designed specifically for moving large, fully assembled structures.

Our delivery partners are experienced in transporting sheds, coops, and similar buildings and use specialized equipment to safely unload and position the coop on your property.

For most deliveries, the coop is unloaded from the trailer and moved into its final approved location using a motorized Mule or similar building-placement equipment. This equipment allows the delivery team to maneuver the coop through areas that a full-size delivery truck cannot access.

By purchasing a fully assembled coop requiring specialized delivery, you agree to the delivery and site-access requirements outlined below.

2. Delivery Rates and Fees

Delivery pricing is based primarily on:

  • Distance from the builder to the delivery location
  • Size and dimensions of the coop
  • Oversize-load permits or escort requirements, when applicable
  • Ferry service or other non-land transportation
  • Unusual delivery conditions or specialized equipment requirements

A delivery quote will be provided before your order is finalized.

Most standard deliveries include professional yard placement, provided the property meets the access and site requirements disclosed before delivery.

Additional charges may apply when circumstances outside the normal delivery scope are required, including:

  • Expedited or specially scheduled delivery
  • Oversize permits or escort vehicles
  • Ferry transportation
  • Extended driver or placement-crew waiting time
  • Specialized equipment not normally required for yard placement
  • Site conditions or obstacles that were not disclosed before delivery

3. Transportation and Damage Protection

Gone Broody carefully selects experienced delivery partners who specialize in transporting large, fully assembled structures.

Although damage during specialized building transport is uncommon, customers should inspect the coop when it arrives and notify the delivery team immediately if any visible transportation damage is present.

If damage occurs during transportation or placement, Gone Broody will assist with documenting the issue, coordinating with the responsible carrier or delivery company, and arranging appropriate repair materials or replacement components when needed.

Please refer to our Damaged on Delivery Policy for complete inspection, documentation, and claim procedures.

4. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Because specialized coop deliveries require coordinated routes, equipment, permits, and driver scheduling:

  • Delivery cancellation or rescheduling requests should be submitted as early as possible.
  • Requests made within 72 hours of a scheduled pickup or delivery route may be subject to additional charges.
  • A late cancellation may result in a fee of up to $1,000 when transportation, permitting, driver time, or other delivery expenses have already been committed.

Weather, road conditions, equipment issues, permitting delays, and other circumstances outside the carrier's control may occasionally require delivery dates to be adjusted.

5. Delivery Truck Access

The specialized hauling truck must first be able to safely reach an appropriate unloading area on the property.

Whenever possible, customers should provide:

  • A driveway or access area at least 12 feet wide
  • 14–16 feet of width where tight turns, gates, fences, trees, or other obstacles are present
  • Approximately 60–70 feet of maneuvering space when the truck must back into or pull through the property
  • At least 13 feet of overhead clearance from tree limbs, wires, building overhangs, and similar obstacles
  • Firm ground capable of supporting a large delivery truck and trailer

Gravel, concrete, pavement, or firm hard-packed surfaces are generally best for truck access.

The delivery truck does not normally need to drive all the way to the coop's final location. Once an appropriate unloading location is reached, the coop can typically be removed from the trailer and transported across the property using specialized placement equipment.

6. Professional Yard Placement

Most fully assembled Gone Broody coops are placed using a motorized Mule or similar shed-moving equipment.

These machines are designed specifically for maneuvering large structures and can:

  • Move the coop away from the delivery trailer
  • Navigate driveways, yards, and other approved surfaces
  • Make significantly tighter turns than the delivery truck
  • Position the coop onto the customer's prepared foundation or approved final location

The Mule typically allows the delivery team to place the coop much farther from the road or delivery truck than traditional flatbed unloading.

For successful yard placement, the route from the unloading area to the coop location must have adequate:

  • Width
  • Height clearance
  • Turning room
  • Ground stability
  • Slope and grade
  • Clearance from buildings, fences, landscaping, utilities, septic systems, retaining walls, and other obstacles

As a general guideline, the placement route should be at least 2 feet wider than the widest portion of the coop, with additional clearance anywhere the delivery team must turn or maneuver.

Customers are responsible for accurately disclosing gates, fences, narrow passages, slopes, overhead obstacles, soft ground, septic areas, utility lines, and other conditions that could affect placement.

7. Unusual or Difficult Placement Conditions

A forklift, crane, or other specialty equipment is not normally required for Gone Broody's standard fully assembled coop deliveries.

However, unusual properties may require additional planning or equipment when the requested location cannot safely be reached using the standard shed-hauling truck and Mule.

Examples may include:

  • Extremely steep grades
  • Significant retaining walls
  • Placement across very soft or unstable ground
  • Locations with insufficient access width
  • Placement over or around major obstacles
  • Locations requiring the coop to be lifted rather than moved across the property

If specialty equipment is required, Gone Broody will discuss the available options and any additional costs with the customer before proceeding whenever the condition is known in advance.

8. Site Safety and Final Placement

The delivery crew has final authority to determine whether the truck, trailer, Mule, and coop can safely enter or travel across a particular portion of the property.

The crew may modify or decline a requested placement if they determine that continuing could:

  • Damage the coop
  • Damage delivery equipment
  • Damage the customer's property
  • Create unsafe working conditions
  • Violate transportation or safety regulations

Gone Broody and its delivery partners will make every reasonable effort to place the coop in the customer's requested approved location while protecting the coop, property, equipment, and delivery personnel.

9. Additional Terms

All specialized deliveries are subject to applicable federal, state, and local transportation requirements.

Oversized coops may require permits, route restrictions, escort vehicles, or other transportation requirements depending on the coop dimensions and delivery location.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate site-access information before delivery. Undisclosed site conditions that materially change the delivery requirements may result in additional charges or require an alternate placement location.

By accepting specialized delivery and yard-placement services, you acknowledge and agree to these delivery and site-access requirements.
