Description

Hen House Collection Chicken Coop Exhaust Fan

Add-on item — available only with a Hen House Collection coop; not sold separately.

Keep your coop cooler, drier, and fresher with this easy-to-use exhaust fan. It pulls hot, smelly air out so fresh air can flow in through lower vents or windows. The outside louver opens only when the fan runs and stays closed when off to help block rain, bugs, and drafts. Plug into a standard outlet (outdoor-rated extension cord or GFCI receptacle).

Why you’ll love it

  • Cuts heat and smells: Moves out hot air, humidity, and ammonia fast.

  • Drier litter: Less dampness means fewer odors.

  • Adjustable: 3 speeds — High / Medium / Low to match weather and flock size.

When to use

  • Hot days: Run High during afternoon heat.

  • Rainy/damp weather: Clear moisture after storms or cleaning.

  • Winter: Use Low to vent moisture without chilling birds.

Where to use (by climate)

  • Hot & humid (Gulf/Southeast): Use Medium–High most summer days; Low in evenings to clear moisture from overnight breathing.

  • Hot & dry (Southwest/High desert): Use High during heat waves to dump heat quickly; switch to Medium once temps ease.

  • Mild/temperate (spring/fall zones): Run Medium on warm afternoons or after cleaning/rain to dry the coop.

  • Cold & damp (Pacific NW/Upper Midwest shoulder seasons): Short Low cycles in daytime to push out moisture; keep lower vents open year-round.

  • Very cold winters (regular freezes): Use Low in short bursts during the day to fight frostbite-causing moisture; avoid long High runs. Rely on passive high/low vents overnight.

Tip: The fan is a helper, not a replacement for always-open vents. Keep lower inlets open so fresh air flows past (not on) the birds and out the fan.

How it works

  1. Turn the fan on → it pushes air out.

  2. The outside louver flips open from airflow.

  3. Turn it off → the louver closes to help keep out weather and pests.
