Silkie

Silkie chicks grow into gentle, fluffy birds that make great pets for kids and small backyards.

As adults, they lay about 2–3 small cream/tinted eggs per week (around 100–150 a year) and are famous for being excellent mothers—many go broody and love to hatch. Silkies are calm and quiet, bantam-sized, and do best in a dry, draft-free coop with safe, low perches. Set up a warm brooder with clean water and chick starter, and keep feet feathers clean.
