Leghorn Chicks

White Leghorn chicks grow into active, hardworking hens that lay lots of white eggs.

As adults, they produce about 5–6 eggs per week (around 250–320 a year) and often start laying early. They handle heat very well with shade and water, do fine in cold with a dry, draft-free coop (watch big combs for frostbite), and they like room to roam. White Leghorns are more busy and alert than cuddly, so use secure fencing and give perches and a safe run. Try our Live Chick Breed Selector Quiz to compare breeds.
