Overhead clearance must be at least 13 feet to avoid wires or branches. The ground must be firm—gravel, concrete, or hard-packed dirt—and able to support 12,000+ lbs.
The trailer needs a driveway that's 12–14 feet wide, and the path should be clear, level, and strong enough for a big truck. The unit can slide off the trailer straight back or to the side, but it usually has to stay within 10–15 feet of the trailer. If the unit needs to be placed farther away or in a tight spot, extra equipment like a forklift or crane might be needed, which can cost more. Cranes are only used for special setups and usually have a reach of 20–30 feet.
