Scales

Poultry scales help you work faster and smarter on processing day.

Use a hanging scale to check live weight before harvest, then a bench/table scale to weigh dressed birds, parts, and packages for clear labels and fair pricing. Look for stainless, easy-clean surfaces, a large display, tare/zero (so you can weigh in a tub), and splash-resistant housings. Good ranges: hanging 50–200 lb for live birds; bench 11–66 lb with accuracy to 0.01–0.1 lb for carcasses and cut pieces (a small gram scale is handy for organs or spices). Tips: chill birds first, let them drip dry, place the tray, tare to zero, then weigh and record. Clean and sanitize the scale after use, and calibrate once in a while so numbers stay true.
