Solar Module

Take your automatic chicken coop door "off the grid".  With our solar module, you can run your automatic chicken coop door with energy from the sun.

The solar panel consists of an array of panels providing 10 Watts of charging power to the 12 Volt SLA battery. Coop Tender controls the battery charge so that it does not overcharge or charge too quickly.

Solar panel comes un-mounted.  It may be mounted to the mounting board of your coop door if it faces south, or install in a suitable south-facing location.

Coop Tender Automatic Chicken Doors incorporate a built-in charge controller to ensure that battery overcharging does not occur. 

Easily monitor the battery with Coop Tender's status display and "view at a distance" status lights.

12 Volt 5Ah SLA Backup Battery is included.  The battery fits inside of the controller compartment and will run the door for up to 1 week without being charged.

Mounting hardware not included

Solar panel has 4 holes on the back of the frame which allows for a variety of mounting options.  You can make your own mounting brackets out of wood or purchase mounting hardware from your local hardware store.

Certified Humane Door

The Coop Tender Certified Humane Automatic Chicken Coop Door is suitable for all chicken breeds and provides an opening which is 21 inches wide by 18 inches high. The opening size meets the requirements defined in " Humane Farm Animal Care-Animal Care Standards-2014 Standards: Egg Laying Hens" which states: "It is recommended that exits are at least 18" (46 cm) high and 21" (53 cm) wide."

Each light automatically switches on based on the ambient light value reported by Coop Tender or by Schedule.  Light stays on for the duration set in the web app.

Coop Ventilation:

Controls up to 1500 Watts AC electric heaters or water deicers to protect your livestock from dangerously freezing temperatures in the winter.

Heat is automatically turned on when the coop temperature falls below the temperature configured via the CT Internet Wi-Fi Web App.  

100% solid state - no mechanical relays which are pone to failure over time are used.

Predator Motion Detect Module:

Actively deters predators and alerts you of their presence!

Coop Tender Predator Motion Sensor Module automatically arms when the door is closed.  

When predator motion is sensed, the system goes into Predator Alert Mode:

• Lights on module flash red for 30 seconds - working to scare potential predators away
• Activates "Security Light": Integrates with the Coop Tender Accessory and Heat Control Module. Automatically switches the Security Light on for 1 minute - the bright light will further scare the predator away
• Sends SMS and email Predator Motion Alert - informing you that your hens might be in danger!
