Chick Starter

Chick starter is a small crumble feed with extra protein to help chicks grow from hatch to about 6–8 weeks.

Use medicated chick starter if your chicks are on soil or with older birds, or if your area has had coccidiosis—a gut illness caused by tiny parasites (germs) that spread in poop and wet litter and can make chicks weak with runny or bloody droppings. Choose non-medicated starter if your chicks were vaccinated for coccidiosis or are indoors on clean, dry bedding with low risk. Keep feed fresh and dry, give clean water at all times, and switch to grower feed around 6–8 weeks.
